Does Claude Code support Persistent memory?
Claude Code retains context across sessions with CLAUDE.md instructions and auto memory that saves preferences and corrections without the user writing them.

Supported, with the qualification kept attached.
Two mechanisms: user-written CLAUDE.md or AGENTS.md files loaded at session start, and auto memory that Claude writes from corrections and preferences. Official pages do not name a plan gate. Auto memory can be toggled off.

Saved chats, project instructions, retrieval over history, and automatically learned preferences are labeled separately in notes.
Researcher note
Path A pairs code.claude.com/docs/en/memory with support.claude.com power-user tips. Neither page lists a plan exclusion. The support guide says everything not called out as off-by-default works on a stock install, and auto-memory is not in that off-by-default list. Seed plans are Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise, and API; this record does not invent a plan list.
