What this state means

Selected platforms, with the qualification kept attached.

Requires the ChatGPT macOS app. VS Code needs the Work with Apps extension, which the help article also says works with VS Code forks including Cursor and Windsurf. Enterprise admins can disable Work with Apps or macOS code edits. Cited pages do not name which plans include the feature.

Capability definition

Runs inside or integrates directly with a software development environment.

Scope boundary

Editing a repository through a separate web agent is not automatically an IDE integration.

Researcher note

Path A pairs help.openai.com/articles with the OpenAI-published VS Code Marketplace listing. Two help articles share one independence key, so the Marketplace listing is the second section. The listing is the Codex extension, and its macOS section states the ChatGPT app connection. Plan strings were not invented.
